LE BOFFE
Ancient heart of Anacapri. The development of this seventeenth-century district is linked to the construction of the church of S. Sofia (1510) and to the movement of the population further downstream towards larger arable land. It owes its name to the complex of houses, built around the old piazza delle Ficacciate, and covered with barrel and pavilion vaults, which in the Neapolitan dialect are called “boffe”. Le Boffe is the place in Anacapri that more than others has preserved traces of the ancient spontaneous architecture, remaining a must for those who want to savor the ancient and the narrow alleys.
